Pattern Review: Sandpiper Top by Clever Charlotte

The Sandpiper Top is a cute pinafore-style shirt by Clever Charlotte. This reversible top is perfect for pretty quilting cotton fabrics. I used fabric from the Coquette collection by Art Gallery Fabrics on one side and Honeycomb Dots by Kei on the reverse.

It goes together very quickly, there are only two pattern pieces! The most difficult part (for me) was the buttonhole and buttons. But it was high time I learned how to do them. I followed the directions in my sewing machine manual word-for-word and everything turned out just fine. I would definitely recommend this pattern to any beginners ready to tackle buttonholes.

I made a size 4T for my 7-year-old. I was torn about whether to go the next size up because she was barely in the 4T size, but after reading the review for the Sandpiper Top on no big dill (she says the sizes are generous), I decided to stick with the 4T. I'm glad I did, because it fits perfectly snug without any gaping below the armpits.

The pattern also includes the Sandpiper Capris, which I hope to tackle in a few weeks. Stay tuned!

(Full disclosure: Clever Charlotte provided me with a copy of the pattern for the purpose of a review. All opinions expressed in this review are honest and my own.)
