Silk Matka Dress

I would just love to make this dress, found in the gallery on fabric shop Ray Stitch's website. It would be perfect for my lifestyle of working at home. I love loose fitting, yet fashionable clothing.

This dress was made from Cal Patch's Do-It-Yourself Clothes: Patternmaking Simplified. And what's really fabulous is that it's made from a fabric called Matka Silk. According to Ray Stitch, Matka Silk is "100%, beautiful natural silk with a fine linen weave. The fabric is medium to heavy weight and is suitable for many purposes. It has a 'grain' of contrasting colour running through it - either along its length or across its width."

I like how it's not fussy and has an almost utilitarian look to it. A very un-silk look.
